Let me introduce myself. My name is Sam Woodward the owner of the Hydrotherapy Centre.
I am a qualified Veterinary Nurse with a Degree in Animal Science and Behaviour. I worked in a veterinary practice for 10 years and opened my own Canine Hydrotherapy Centre 4 years ago. It was whilst working in practice that I came across canine hydrotherapy. I soon discovered that swimming was the best exercise for Pre and Post Op conditions, Non Operative conditions and for increased stamina and weight loss. Afterall swimming is good for us so why shouldn't it be good for our pets too.
After thorough research I discovered the only Canine Hydrotherapy course at the time. It was in Nuneaton near Birmingham at a Kennels, Hydrotherapy and Training Centre called Allseasons or Hawksmoor Training Centre. It was an intense 2 day course which I thoroughly enjoyed, very professional and would definitely recommend for any one interested in Canine Hydrotherapy. I also completed their Water Management Course, as whats the point in running a Hydrotherapy centre with no idea as to how to monitor the water quality properly. I then went on to complete various other Physiotherapy, Hydrotherapy and Rehabilitation courses and also spent the day at a number of pools to gain more practical experience. You can never have enough training and experience, especially if you want to do a job properly.
As a referral centre a letter from your Veterinary Surgeon is essential for all dogs wanting to swim,(most of the vets in Grantham, Newark and Sleaford already have Referral Forms) this is just to ensure they are fit to swim and to let us know of any potential problems.
Please give us a call for a visit or to arrange a session on 01400 273942. The phone number is shared with Woodwards Car Care Centre so just ask to speak to Sam about Hydrotherapy and they will put you through:
INITIAL SESSION £10 NORMAL SESSION £18 10 SESSIONS PAID FOR IN ADVANCE £150
Most dogs show signs of improved muscle tone and strength after 5/6 sessions and most post op cases tend to need a minimum of 10 sessions. Every dog is different and we reassess each dog at each session and decide the best way to progress with their treatment.
